Sagar Garuda on Inside Techcom: From Technical Writer to Startup Founder

Zenious co-founder and CEO Sagar Garuda joined Zohra Mutabana on Season 8 of Inside Techcom for a conversation about his path from engineering graduate to technical writer to startup founder, and what it actually took to build Zenious.

He talks about how Tech writing is one of the professions that pay well, and how he actually funded his journey into entrepreneurship. He also talks about the harder conversation before starting Zenious, which was not with his wife (who backed the decision almost immediately) but with himself, working through whether the idea was a genuine opportunity or a midlife crisis.

The episode includes the story of how Sagar found his co-founder, Sandeep Choudri, a former Microsoft engineering leader. Before incorporating anything, the two of them spent a week trekking to Kedarnath and Badrinath to test whether they could actually work together, not just be friends.

Sagar also walks through the problem that led to Zenious: the high cost and slow turnaround of updating product videos at scale, and why most AI video tools on the market were built for marketing content rather than the walkthrough videos that make up most of what technical writing and L&D teams actually produce. He gets into the hardest technical problem the team solved, keeping AI narration and screen recordings in sync, and shares his view on why documentation becomes more valuable, not less, as AI changes how content gets created.
